Manteo Christmas Parade-Saturday, December 6,2014

Last Saturday was a lot of fun! I got to be in my first parade riding in the bucket on the front end of a fire truck! The gals and guys at the Manteo Fire station were wonderful. They helped Santa a lot that day and they did a great job decorating the truck, which ( when you think about it) isn't very easy to decorate! Going down the parade route I tried to make eye contact with every child. I think I did for most of them too!
We took pictures in the boathouse before and... after the parade and the line ran down the block after the parade. So Santa heard lots of wishes that day. I must confess that I don't always heard the hearts desire of every child because it may be mumbled or spoken so softly that I don't catch it. In those cases I usually say "Be sure to have Mommy write that down for Santa, OK?"
On Saturday there were lots of requests for Legos, especially from the girls, which surprised Ol' Santa a bit, but I had several of the young ladies ask specifically for the Architectural version of Legos! I also had a young man ask for a rolling pin so he could make cookies for Santa! Now that's a great way to move to the top of the nice list! One little guy asked for a pogo stick and a trampoline. Santa made sure these were not going to be used at the same time! One young lady asked for a robot that would do what she tells it to and a little guy asked for another fire station. Why you ask? Because he couldn't find the first one, Silly! Thank goodness his bedroom hadn't burned down in the meantime!  Two requests that stuck in my mind was the little girl who wanted half of an American Girl Doll, but she was unsure if she wanted the top or bottom half  and the boy who wanted a left handed compound bow but he would not be using it to shoot my reindeer!  There were also two girls that wanted football jerseys.  The first one wanted a Carolina Panthers Cam Newton jersey and the other wanted a Chicago Bears Jersey for Jay Cutler!
We did over a hundred families at the Boathouse but the one that stood out was the little girl that said she just wanted everyone to be happy! I told her that I would work on that but I needed her help and I need your help also! Let's all help this season, make as many people happy as you can!
Until next time that's it from Santa's lap!
